This artist is a must hear. Her songs are both philosophical and nicely whimsical, all in a folk-country or occasionally jazzy style.

Journal entries, thoughts, observations, poems...

we sat in this cafe
we sat in this cafe
not long ago
if a million years is a blink.
today, you are so far,
I need to reach
beyond the sun to pinch you.
to me, you are
desert and ocean,
beach sand stuck to my feet.
I'll never ask the rain
to wash you away,
even if
100 red umbrellas
dance in the street,
each a world of joy.

nell
she is tomatoes.
red, like passion,
like love, like blood.
riding horses in morning fields,
her heart beats,
buttercup palpitations.
sweet, sweet secrets,
ghost stories and
gingerbread houses,
she lives in,
always in, sun-glow.
long past youth
and bright smiles,
she rides away,
blowing kisses,
which will last forever,
not unlike the wind.

in the cracks
between shadows and light,
i wonder if i hurt you, too much,
as if it's programmed into wires
and electric boxes in my body.
i'm a string tied around my own heart,
too tight, and you're part of the darkness.
slipping into waves and bobbing,
up and down we float,
like marshmallows in a
hot chocolate ocean.
dock lights glow
on the black shoreline,
the unknown, the night
afraid of shark teeth
in a green lake,
afraid of lamp-oil
gleaming on sun-kisses
of flames, of pain
like a shock from a cattle fence
in old prairie pastures.
like paintings from the past,
and perhaps that's what we are.
we sit on benches in an art museum
and gaze at our reflections,
hanging on the walls around us.

Well, hello again! Time slips by so quickly and suddenly it's October. Where did the time go? Personally, I've been spending quite a bit of time learning how to speak German. No particular reason...other than the fact that it's a requirement for my college graduation (no disrespect to the language department). Actually, I think learning a second language is extremely rewarding, albeit challenging. On top of that, I have several other classes...which I have been studying diligently for. With upcoming tests and papers, one can defiantly sense the mounting intensity when walking on campus. So, if you're on of the many who may need a little break and if you enjoy strolling around the District in Columbia...stop by the Twilight Fest tomorrow evening (Thursday, September 29th). I'll be playing outside Puckett's For Women, along with Don Betz. We'll be playing from 6 to 9pm. Say "hello" and make a request. I'll see what I can do...

Hey! I am playing at the Martini Bar in Columbia, MO, on Saturday (09.17.05) at 9 p.m. to benefit Katrina victims. The Hilary Scott Band will be playing too. Come on out, listen to some great music, and help Katrina victims!

Hello everyone, and welcome to the site! I'm very excited to finally have a little harbor for my music happenings.
With fall and the school year quickly approaching, there will be several opportunities to catch a performance. On September 1, I'll be playing at the Twilight Festival, a beloved Columbia tradition that occurs every Thursday during the months of June and September. Be warned that the Twilight Festival gets a little crazy...
I remember the first time I encountered the Festival. Shortly after moving to Columbia, I was innocently driving down Broadway when suddenly I hit a wall of traffic. There were masses people, balloons, and musicians lining the street. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, if you like balloons, this is the perfect opportunity to listen to some great music and perhaps make a few balloon animals!
If you can't wait until September and you're just itching for music, come on out to Bambino's this Friday, August 12! I'll be performing with the very talented, guitar-playing Don Betz, my partner in crime. Don and I are fired up for the show!
Again, thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the site!
